Warehouse Racking Quote Checklist

For a warehouse racking quote, prepare the product or storage task, dimensions, load information, proposed layout, quantities and delivery location. Include any existing equipment and receiving constraints. These details let the discussion begin with your actual project rather than a generic rack price.

You can request an initial review before every detail is settled. Mark unknown information clearly and separate confirmed measurements from estimates. This makes it easier to identify what needs checking before an order can be finalized.

1. Explain what you will store and how you will handle it

Start with the goods, not just the name of a rack. Describe whether you are storing loaded pallets, hand-loaded cartons, tools, parts or mixed supplies. Explain how items are placed into storage and retrieved.

If you are comparing storage formats, use our warehouse storage solutions page as a starting point. For palletized goods, review the selective pallet racking page and send the link to the option you are considering. A product link makes the proposed configuration easier to identify.

2. Supply measurements with clear labels

Keep the following measurements separate in your request:

Information What to include
Stored goods Pallet or item width, depth and loaded height, including any overhang.
Proposed rack The product option, requested dimensions and number of storage levels.
Available area A measured sketch showing the intended installation space and relevant obstacles.
Handling equipment The equipment used to move goods and the information available about its operating requirements.

State inches, feet, millimeters or other units beside the figures. Label any measurement that is approximate. If a product page defines a dimension as internal clear width rather than overall width, keep that distinction in your comparison.

3. Provide the load information you know

List the maximum loaded pallet or item weight and explain how the goods will be arranged. Identify any unusual or uneven loads so they can be reviewed rather than hidden inside a general average.

Ask what working-load documentation applies to the proposed rack configuration. Distinguish a load listed for one shelf or beam level from an approved capacity for the complete bay. Do not treat a test-load figure, a general product description and a configuration-specific working rating as interchangeable information.

4. Show the proposed layout and quantities

Attach a simple drawing showing separate rack runs, proposed bays and relevant site features. Mark doors, columns, existing storage and the areas that must remain usable. Explain whether the project is a new installation or an extension.

If you need starter and add-on units, include your proposed quantities and request compatibility review. For an existing system, provide identification labels and clear photos of the connections. Layout and unit selection should be confirmed together; a total unit count alone leaves important questions unanswered.

Installation, floor suitability, anchoring and any applicable site requirements should be reviewed with the appropriate installer or qualified professional for your project. Send existing installation instructions or project requirements when available instead of assuming they are included in a product quotation.

5. Include the full receiving picture

Provide the delivery country, state and ZIP code, and say whether the destination is commercial or residential. Describe truck access, receiving hours, appointment needs and any loading dock, forklift or other unloading arrangement.

These details belong in the first inquiry when freight is part of the request. Ask whether the quotation covers the receiving services you need and what remains the buyer's responsibility. Review the current shipping policy alongside the order-specific freight details.

6. Compare quotations on the same scope

Before comparing totals, check that each offer identifies the same dimensions, quantities, storage levels and included components. Record freight, applicable taxes or import charges, installation scope, documentation and estimated timing separately when they are provided.

Ask about any unclear line item before payment. A lower product-only figure and a delivered quotation cannot be compared fairly until you understand what each includes.

  • Product link or storage task:
  • Loaded pallet or item dimensions and maximum weight:
  • Proposed rack dimensions, levels, runs and bays:
  • New installation or existing system to extend:
  • Drawing and photo link:
  • Quantity and any phased purchasing plan:
  • Delivery country, ZIP code and receiving arrangements:
  • Required project date and any fixed constraints:
  • Questions about load documentation, components or installation:

Send your project details to PINRSHELF and identify which items are confirmed and which need review. Custom options, minimum quantities, freight and lead times are confirmed for the specific order.
